Location: Zoom (a link is sent out to students the same day as the course starts)

After registration, students are sent a recommended wine list of wines that accompany the course and which are available from Vinmonopolet for purchasing. Approximate wine budget is 2000 kr.

This course is taught in English since all the course materials and exam is only available in English. All our teachers are able to explain terminology in Norwegian if required.

This course is taught by an approved Oslo Wine School WSET educator.
The WSET Level 1 in Wine is an internationally recognized and certified course designed for individuals new to wine or those with limited formal knowledge. Ideal for wine-lovers and new restaurant staff, this course provides a solid foundation in wine basics, helping participants gain confidence in serving and selecting wines.
Our goal is to inspire and empower students, equipping them with the skills to choose wines for various occasions. We keep our classes small to ensure personalized attention and maximize learning opportunities.
Course Duration: 6 hours
Content: During our interactive and engaging wine course students learn:

How to taste wine

Essentials of grape growing and winemaking.

Understand about the different types and styles of wines

Learn how to describe eight well-known grape varieties: Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Grigio, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon.

Understand the basic principles of food and wine pairing.

Classroom 45-minute multiple-choice exam. Course participants can enroll in the course exam usually held 2 – 3 weeks after their course. On successfully passing the exam, students receive a WSET Level 1 in Wine certificate and pin.

This course requires a minimum number of participants, in the case that there are not enough course registrations, course participants will be offered a place on an alternative date. Purchased course places are not refunded, unless under exceptional circumstances a course is cancelled.

About the WSET Level 1 in Wine exam
After the course, students will receive an email inviting them to register for the WSET Level 1 in Wine exam, which is a 45-minute multiple-choice exam with 30 questions. Students receive the results of the exam between 6 – 8 weeks after taking the exam. Upon successfully passing the exam, students receive a WSET certificate and pin.
Exam fees: The classroom exam fee is included in the course fee. If students wish to take the digital exam, an extra fee applies as this is an exam managed directly from the UK.
