About Bestheim:

Bestheim was created as a cooperative resulting from merger of 5 Alsace wineries.  Today the cooperative has 428 families making a range of wines including highly awarded Cremants and still wines.

Bestheim makes Grand Cru wines from 4 of Alsace´s Grand Cru vineyards (Mambourg, Schlossberg, Zinnkoepflé, and Kaeffekopf). In total there are 51 individual terroirs specified as Grand Cru sites in Alsace, representing approx. 5% of the total production of wines in the region.

Grand Cru sites have the best exposure on mainly south-facing slopes usually 200 – 400 metres above sea level, with a range of soils that give individual expression to the grapes grown there.

Smaksnotat:

Lemon greencolour.  Restrained white stone fruit, lime, white flowers, hint of spice, wet stones. Juicy acidity on the palate, with very good concentration of fruit  – baked lemon, lime peel, grapefruit, white peach.  and length. Lingering finish. Lime, baked lemon, lime peel, grapefruit, white peach. Interesting wine, feels dry, with a slight phenolic bite on finish. Can drink now, but will age well over next 5 – 7 years or more.

13,5% abv, RS: 6,9 g/l

Great with food – try with trout, or quite strong fish dishes, or even pork or Asian spicy chicken dishes.
