Cremant – the perfect sparkling wine for all occasions.

I think it´s always a good idea to have some nice sparkling wines in the house, just in case some friends pop around, or you want to say a special thank you to a friend or neighbour.  André Delorme Cremant de Bourgogne Terroir d´Exception is the perfect sparkling for this type of occasion. Made from 100% Chardonnay, made using the traditional method like they do in Champagne. This special cuvée comes from a special plot on the border between the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Chalonnaise in Burgundy, France.

About André Delorme

The André Delorme brand was established in 1942 by André Delorme when he returned home to Rully having been injured during the 2nd World War. His still and sparkling wines quickly gained a very good reputation, and later his son took over the company which began to grow and made a range of wines from the best appellations in the Côte Chalonnaise.  In 2005 however, the company moved in a new direction when it was taken over by the family Piffaut under the name Familie Piffaut Vins et Domaines. Since then new investments in winemaking and viticulture has seen the company continue to prosper.

What is Cremant?

Cremant is the french term for a sparkling wine made in France using the traditional method of having a second fermentation in the bottle in order to produce the bubbles, in other words, the same method which is made to create Champagne.  With Cremant however, depending on its region of origin, winemakers will use different grapes from in Champagne in order to make their sparkling wine.

What is Cremant de Bourgogne?

Cremant de Bourgogne is an AOC classification established in 1975 in the heart of Burgundy.  Today the appellation produces more than 19,2 million bottles per year (source: Cremants.com)

Whilst the majority of Cremant de Bourgogne is made from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the appellation also allows the use of other grapes such as Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Aligoté, Melon, Sacy and Gamay Noir.

Cremant de Bourgogne is made in 386 villages and covers a total production area of 2,861 ha.  A total of 38% of the production is exported.
