Domaine Rijckaert is a fairly young producer in Burgundy established in 1998 by Jean Rijckaert, originally from Belgium but with a passion for Burgundy. Here the focus is on small vineyard plots in Mâcon in Burgundy (4 ha) and in Arbois in Jura (5,5 ha). In 2013, Florent Rouve took over responsibility for all the winemaking and continues the focus on passion for wines with a sense of place.
Mâcon expression
In general, we tend to expect wines with riper fruit from Mäcon. Often the wines are less complex using less oak or are unoaked compared to the wines of the Côte de Beaune, and they are much cheaper offering good value Chardonnay´s from selected producers.

With very good fruit from small plots and attention to detail, Domaine Rijckaert manages to create something quite unique. The grapes are carefully handled and allowed to ferment spontaneously in used oak barrels , before maturing further in oak to develop a soft leesy texture, and with nuanced fruit and a well-integrated nutty character. The result is a very savoury and interesting wine with more character than we would often expect from Mâcon, and great acidity and a personality we would often associate with Chardonnay from cooler Jura

Medium lemon, expressive nuanced nose, with subtle hazelnuts, oatmeal harmonious integrated into green apple, white peach. Very savoury and inviting. On the palate fresh and well-balanced with nuanced stone fruit vibrant acidity and a lengthy finish. The style is like a cross-over between Burgundy and Jura and is very appealing. Great value for money.
Excellent food wine and a great wine to have in your cellar which works with a range of different food including chicken and pork lead dishes and casseroles.
