Frequently asked questions about the WSET exams
Who organizes and marks my exam papers?
Oslo Wine School is a WSET-approved program provider. We organize the various programs, the course experience, administer the exams and send out the results to our students including the certificates and pins.
WSET, Wine & Spirit Education Trust, based in London is the examining body. They develop the exam questions, mark the exam papers and send the results back to us. All questions related to results received on your WSET exam is administered by them through our WSET-approved wine school.
When can I register for my exam?
After you are registered on a WSET course with us, you will receive an invitation by email to register yourself on the exam. There are several dates, locations, and formats for the exam for you to choose from. If you don´t receive the exam timetable after registration, please send an email to kurs@oslowineschool.no and we will send it to you immediately.
What happens if the exam date is no longer suitable for me, if I have to cancel?
If you have registered for an exam and the date is no longer suitable, you can cancel your exam and re-schedule. Exams cancelled more than 15 working days ahead of the exam date will not be charged. Any exam cancelled less than 15 working days prior to the exam will be charged an administration/non-attendance fee - individual course fees apply.
What happens if I have extraordinary circumstances?
In the case that you are not able to take the exam due to extraordinary circumstances, please contact us as soon as possible to re-book your exam however we cannot guarantee that the exam fee will be dropped.
Can I have extra time during the exam due to health issues?
It is WSETs policy that no students will be disadvantaged during the exam. It is important to read the relevant pages in the course specifications of your course for information on this. Students who for example have dyslexia can be awarded extra time to complete the exam. However, students must inform us when they register for the exam and send us a medical certificate explaining the issue. This will then be sent to WSET London who will evaluate whether extra time can be granted.
Can I take the exam digitally online?
Yes. For Level 1 og 2 in Wine it is possible to choose either the classroom exam or online exam. Please be aware that the online exam registration time takes longer to process than the classroom exam. In addition, students must ensure that their laptop is compatible and they are able to complete all the necessary procedures prior to the digital exam. The online exam is managed by an external provider in London, therefore an additional exam fee applies.

Can I take the exam again if I fail?
If you don´t pass the exam, it is possible to re-sit the exam. If you are unhappy with your performance, but passed, it is not possible to take the exam again to improve your result.

Please note: WSET updates course information regularly. Please make sure that you have the correct course materials for your course prior to your exam. If you have taken the course quite some time ago, please contact us to check that you still have the correct course materials. If you have the older versions of the materials, it is possible to buy a new set from us.
About the WSET exam results for Level 1, 2 and 3 in Wine
If you have participated in the classroom exam, your exam paper will be sendt from Oslo Wien School to WSET London for marking. For the digital online exams (Remote Invigilation) this process is done automatically from the UK.
When can I expect to receive the results?
You will receive notice of your results as soon as WSET London sends the exam results to Oslo Wine School. The results are sent out by email from us.
- WSET Level 1/Level 2 in Wine: approx. 6 - 8 weeks after the exam
- WSET Level 3 in Wine: approx. 12 weeks after the exam
- Digital (Remote Invigilation) WSET Level 1/Level 2 in Wine: 4 - 8 weeks after the exam
When do I receive my WSET certificate and pin?
The certificates and pins are sent in the mail as soon as we have received them from WSET London. The usually arrive 4 - 6 weeks after we have received the exam results.
Please make sure we have your correct address and email. If you have moved or changed any contact details, since you took the course, please send an email to kurs@oslowineschool.no as soon as possible
It is your responsibility to make sure your address details are updated. Oslo Wine School cannot take responsibility for lost certificates in case they have been sent to an address that no longer exists. A replacement certificate however can be obtained from WSET London on payment of a replacement certificate fee.
Can I ask for more details about my exam results or ask for a re-evalution?
Any questions about your exam results can be sent to WSET London using their request for further feedback system on payment of an re-evaluation fee. You can also ask for more information about the final grading of your exam. If you would like to receive a more detailed exam result, please contact us within 5 days of receiving your results and we will send you the appropriate forms that you will need to send to WSET London to manage this process.
